Healthy Woman celebrated with banquet, expo

The guests at the second annual anniversary event of Healthy Woman, a program sponsored by Cleveland Regional Medical Center, probably never would have dreamt that they could learn lessons for success from rock stars.
But on Thursday, that is what guest speaker, author and former Houston rock DJ Dana Steele showed them during the anniversary banquet held at First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Steele, author of “Rock to the Top,” shared rock star principles “for building a stage for success.”
“Read everything you can get your hands on,” advised Steele, launching into remembrances of two of the best read rock stars in her opinion.
“Sammy Hagar and Gene Simmons are the best read of the rock stars. Hagar, at a moment’s notice, could come onto my show and talk about anything,” she said.
Her second lesson was related to finances. Her best advice on this topic: “Keep up with financial reports. Learn from them.”
Talking about Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, she talked about her knowledge of him overseeing all the band’s income.
“If Mick Jagger can count pennies, so can you,” she said.
Another principle, according to Steele, is to appreciate the value of networking.
“The best lesson of networking is listening. Really stop and listen. The best networking is doing something for someone without any expectation in return,” she said.
The banquet was sponsored by local businesses and the meal was provided by Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
About 100 people attended the banquet, which followed a free health expo also held at First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
